summerm&b Summer Reading
By: Ellie and Alicia

Are you wondering what you are going to do this summer?  Well, here are a list of movies and books you can look forward to over the summer:

Empire
It's the third book in the Inheritance Trilogy, for those of you who don't recognize the name of the book series the first two were Eragon and Eldest.  You are going  to meet the new dragon rider.  We are not completely sure who the new rider is going to be, but many including myself believe that it is going to be the elven princess Arya.  This book comes out June 13, 2007.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Halllows
The famous Harry Potter series is coming to a close.  The new book is to be released on July 21st.  This book will answer the many question fans have been wondering.  We have also heard, but it has not yet been confirmed, that J.K Rowling is considering writing an 8th book.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheniox
This is the 5th movie in the Harry Potter series.  It is to be released on July 13st.  For those who have not read the book, but like watching the movies, I don't want to give too much away.  But I will say that one of the few people who could tell Harry about his parents is killed by one of  Lord Voldemort's Death Eaters.

FIELD DAY WINNERS!
This year's field day was a huge success!  Despite the on-again/off-again rainshowers, The Student Council, along with moderators Mrs. Rome and Mr. Mio, coordinated a great event!  From kickball to  relays to the Tug-O-War, students laughed and showed great sportsmanship.  Thank you to all of the parents and teachers who helped out on this awesome day!
The winners of field day, Team Skittles, received a bag of candy as their prize!  Congratulations Skittles---taste the rainbow :)

Cedar Point
By Adam
This past weekend the Music Connection, 8th grade Choir, and the Band went to perform in Cedar Point.  Sadly when we were about to leave we found out that one of the buses broke down.  We ended up leaving about an hour and a half later than we were supposed to.  Because of this the band missed their performance and performed as the last group.  This took until about 2:00 PM.  Once we made it to Cedar Point everyone had a blast.
At the awards ceremony, the Music Connection won first place (out of one).  The band won fourth place, and the eighth grade choir won second place.  All together all of the students worked for the long awaited Spirit award!  This award was long waited for by Ms. Smyth our choir director.  And after waiting anxiously for the last award to be given out, Ms. Smyth went up to the podium to accept the precious prize.  Please vote on the poll about what is your favorite ride in Cedar Point.

summermathhomework Homework Over the Summer?!
By Mallory
Since it's called "summer break", shouldn't be getting a break from homework? Some might say this, and some might not. When it was announced in our classroom last week that we would have to do math homework over the summer, I heard a very large amount of sighs. I can understand how they feel, but if we didn't practice math over the summer, by the time the first day of  school comes, it'll be like going back to first grade. We wouldn't remember much from last year. Last summer, we had to do math online and I remember waiting until August to do it. I could barely understand the questions. After some thinking, I remembered what I was doing, but if I had started working on it in early July or late June, it would have been much, much easier. Remember that your teachers aren't torturing you with homework over your time of freedom. Basically what I'm saying is if you want good grades, do your summer math homework
